Our Top 5 Selfie Spots in Asheville, NC

Experience Street Art on Foundy

Asheville, NC is a city filled with interesting characters, vistas, murals, and locales. Whether you’re visiting for the first time this weekend or you’ve lived here all your life, there is always something new to see and experience.

While you’re out and about in town, we encourage you to stare into your phone as little as possible. Instead, we invite you to enjoy this city. Over the course of your day, you may pass musicians, street performers, and art tucked into alleyways. You’re sure to see gorgeous architecture and experience Asheville’s attractions and voices.

If you must pull out your phone, do so quickly, and make the moment count. Here are our top five selfie spots in Asheville, NC.

Experience Street Art on Foundy

Take a self-guided street art stroll on Foundy Street in Asheville’s River Arts District. At one point, the walls along this strip mostly belonged to dilapidated warehouses. Then, an agreement was reached with lots of “high end” graffiti artists to tag the surfaces. The outcome is phenomenal. Lots of photographic opportunities await you in this maze of inventiveness. Be sure to stop in at Summit Coffee and recharge before your next adventure.

Pro Tip: If it has just rained, this area might be a little muddy.

Pose with Dolly Parton

This is a necessity, ladies and gentlemen. Your Asheville experience is not complete until you get a photo with the unequivocal Queen of Country Music, Dolly Parton. She’s a legend and an inspiration. You can’t miss the West Asheville mural, big hair and all, at the corner of Haywood and Mildred Avenue on the side of Beauty Parade.

Stay Weird at the Silo

This silo is a city icon. If you don’t get a group picture with it, were you really in Asheville? While you’re parked at 1 Roberts Street, stay and eat at Henrietta’s Poultry Shoppe, a restaurant from the creators of White Duck Taco. You can also walk from here to the French Broad River or Asheville’s labyrinth, both good photo ops in their own right.

Get Salty in the Cave

When you visit Asheville Salt Cave, you’ll be surrounded by tons (literally) of pink Himalayan salt in a rejuvenating atmosphere. Book a solo session in the cave, or mellow out with your crew. It’s a great opportunity to relax and reset before you continue your journey. And you get to chill in zero-gravity chairs!

Pro tip: Keep your eyes peeled because they like to do Groupon deals.

Travel back in Time

Asheville’s iconic city and county buildings have been gracing our city center for just shy of a century. While you’re on Pack Square, take a moment to study them. You’ll be transported back to Asheville’s earlier heyday of the 1920s, the era of Thomas Wolfe, prohibition tunnels, and the excess of the Jazz Age.
